KINGSTON, Okla. -- After meeting behind closed doors for almost three-and-a-half hours Thursday night, the Kingston City Council fired Deputy Police Chief Scott Brown.

Brown had been suspended in August.

During the closed session, Council members heard statements from Brown and others. In announcing its decision, the Council did not outline the circumstances that led to Brown's termination.

Brown told KTEN that the Council's decision was based on verbal testimony only.

No Council members made themselves available for comment, but one person said the decision will make Kingston "safer."
