Denison man dead after being hit by train

DENISON, Texas -- Friends paid tribute to 28-year-old Thomas Horn on Sunday, hours after he was struck and killed by a train.

"It's just really sad, it's sad," neighbor Santana Kelly said.

Denison police said Horn got into a fight with his girlfriend before leaving the house, but they don't know how he ended up on the train tracks.

Young Dorian Lacona worked with other neighbors to erect a makeshift memorial along the rails.

"I just think its really sad, so we put a cross up and said a prayer," he said.

"He was a really good guy,  and I just never thought something like this would happen so close to my house, or around my nephews," Kelly added. "Now it's just something to teach my nephews to stay off these tracks. I don't want them hurt. I don't want y'all hurt. So stay off these tracks. They're very dangerous."

Kelly said Horn had a two-year-old child who he loved more than anything.

"I just want my boyfriend and everyone else to know that's it not worth it to walk across these tracks and get hurt. He's missed and he's loved dearly."
