DENISON, Texas -- Denison police are investigating a Saturday night assault that sent a man to the hospital... and his wife and stepson to jail.

It happened around 10 o'clock in the 900 block of West Florence Street.

Police said James Lipscomb was stabbed multiple times by his stepson, Samuel Walker. Walker then fled the scene.

When police arrived, Lipscomb told police Walker was responsible for his wounds; that's when his wife, Carol Lipscomb, allegedly started punching and choking him.

Carol Lipscomb and her son were both arrested.

Daniel Scott, Carol Lipscomb's other son, said the incident was triggered by domestic violence.

"My brother said James had a knife next to him, and threatened him with a knife," Scott said. "Sam got the knife before he did, and stabbed James several times, defending his mother. And if I had known that was going on, I'd probably be sitting in jail right now, because I would have defended my mother, too."

James Lipscomb remained hospitalized Monday with non life-threatening injuries.

Carol Lipscomb was jailed on assault, drug, and obstruction charges; Samuel Walker was arrested on assault and drug charges. No bond has been set for either suspect.
