Four hour stand off Saturday ends peacefully

BROKEN BOW, OK- A 4 hour standoff in one Texoma town ends peacefully and lands one man behind bars. It happened around 3 Saturday afternoon at a trailer park in Broken Bow.

It happened at US 259 and Craig Road. Broken Bow Police Chief Richard Wiggins says authorities started looking for Matthew Scott Warden after the owner of the motel he worked at said he had stolen a company credit card.

Officers and deputies began working to negotiate with Warden. After he told them he had several weapons and officers deployed pepper spray, they say he fired one shot at authorities. Warden shot at them again during negotiations.

Fortunately the incident ended peacefully.

"I'm sitting here thinking through this whole deal that I don't want this to end where he hurts himself or an officer. I'm just proud of every officer in this county and how we worked as a team to make sure that everybody got to do the job that we're paid to do and go home without incident," said Chief Wiggins.

Warden was arrested and is in the Broken Bow jail tonight.
