College Football Legend Visits Texoma

DAVIS, OK -- Crimson and cream filled the parking lot as die hard OU fans cheered for their beloved Sooners.

And although the tailgate was nearly 60 miles from the Texas line, one longhorn fan made an appearance.

"I’m really hoping Texas comes to play and they actually win," UT fan, Karen says.

Oklahoma fans were lined up for hours waiting to meet legendary former OU and Cowboys coach Barry Switzer.

Switzer led winning seasons over two decades, bringing home a college national championship and a super bowl as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

He made an appearance Friday morning in Davis to sign autographs, visit with some dedicated fans, and share his thoughts on the rivalry.

"I just hope the Sooners win, but everyone though the Sooners would win last year, but they didn’t so it’s a tough game and the team that makes the fewest mistakes is probably going to win it," former OU head coach, Barry Switzer says.

The tailgate put on by Chickasaw country had the usual cook out and tents set up.

The Davis high school band was also there adding to the red river showdown preparation.

"I think it’s great for the community to come out and just really support OU football, it’s a great part of the community, it adds vibrancy and life to the state of Oklahoma, and it’s just a great time," Chickasaw Nation park guide, Nicholas Paxton says.
