Man Flown To Hospital After Motorcycle Crash

CALERA, OK- A major Texoma highway was shut down for nearly an hour after a motorcycle crash around 5:30 Saturday.

Northbound Highway 69/75 in Calera just south of McKinley Street was shut down after Calera Police say a motorcycle ran into a large van.

One man was on that motorcycle and was flown to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say the man had a head injury along with possible broken bones. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Police say they've had several accidents as construction in the area is ongoing.

"We've worked several accidents within the last few days and a lot of them are due to inattention to driving. Be it talking to someone or using a cell phone, we urge people, just like we have before to put away your cell phone and concentrate on driving and focus their full attention," said Patrolman Chris Meitzen with the Calera Police Department.

Crews say they're not sure what lead to this particular accident and it is under investigation.
