Meals on wheels

GRAYSON COUNTY -- A local non-profit will now be able to help more people thanks to a grant.

Grayson County commissioners awarded Meals on Wheels a 15,000 dollar grant.

This allowed the Texas Department of Agriculture to give them a 150,000 dollar grant to help provide more meals for the community.

The organization will now be able to provide six meals a week to the elderly and disabled instead of five.

Greg Pittman of Meals on Wheels said, "And we're only doing that six days a week, and we would only be doing it for 5 days a week if it weren't for this grant so, it's a huge difference, and it's not just a meal, it's the safety check, it's all the more than a meal that we talk about that comes with meals on wheels."
