Grayson County tax cut

GRAYSON COUNTY -- If you own property in Grayson County you may pay less in your taxes this coming year.

Commissioners say in their budget, they have an added 1.5 million dollars this year so they're planning to cut property taxes by three percent.

That extra money could be put toward the sheriff's office by giving them room to hire four new deputies.

And some of the money will go toward transportation, specifically engineering for TxDot.

"It's the first time in over a decade that Grayson county has cut taxes, to me that's a very important event, as our county grows, we should continue to incrementally reduce property taxes," Grayson County Judge Bill Magers said.

The county commissioners will meet two more times to discuss the budget before it is made final.
