Pottsboro Man Dies in Denison Car Crash

DENISON, TX -- Authorities have released the name of the man who died in a car crash in Denison Tuesday night.

Police say 53 year-old Ray Alan Watson of Pottsboro was killed when a pickup truck slammed into the back of his car after he had slowed down for traffic.

It happened about 5 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 75 near the Morton St. exit in Denison near the Morton St. exit.

The highway had to be shut down while crews cleared the scene.

Police say the driver of the pickup truck failed to break in time.

There's no word if he will face any charges.

"We had a vehicle that was either slowed or stopped, unclear right at this point, in the northbound lane of 75, had a pick-up come up behind the vehicle, did not apply brakes in time to avoid a collision," said Lt. Mike Eppler, Denison Police Department.

Police believe traffic had slowed down in that area because of another accident.

The name of the driver of the pickup truck has not been released.

Watson's body was sent to the Collin County Medical Examiner's office..
