Grayson Christian School on the way to State - - No One Gets You Closer

Grayson Christian School on the way to State

SHERMAN, TX - The Lady Falcons of Grayson Christian School have been bringing the heat on on the court all season long. It is all because they have something other teams do not.

"It is our one heart. We have been working all season long. We always beat as one heart, " said Penny-Jo Shelton, Senior.

After Grayson posted a successful 15-7 season, a trip to the T-LAC state tournament is truly the product of hard work.

"This whole season we have worked hard together and individually. Getting better and stronger, and we push each other to do our absolute best," senior, Becky Baumann added.

"You know, in the back of our mind, this was always our goal. But, to see them grow, and actually get to that point where we are fixing to get on the bus to head to San Antonio, it is very exciting," said coach Karen Love.

"This is the highlight. This is what we have worked for all season. And I do not know if we could be anymore prepared for this,"  said coach, Amanda Glenn.

With one goal, and one heart beat, the secret to this team's success, is really no secret at all.

"What I most admire about them, and I just love about them, is their dedication to improve, to get better to work hard." added Coach Love.

"We put each other above ourselves. That is what really sets us apart from other teams. Mostly on other teams, you see one or two players scoring all the points. With Grayson, this team is all about making each other look better than ourselves," Baumann said.

"Definitely, the teamwork. I am excited to see how we do there. We cheer together, for each other. We always pray together. We keep God first," said Shelton.

The Lady Falcons are making their second state tourney appearance in four years. The two seniors who made the trip three seasons ago bring perspective.

"We are encouraging our younger girls especially, that it is just a game. It is always meant to be for fun, really enjoy it. Just enjoy the experience of all us being there together." Baumann

But make no mistake, the Falcons are ready to compete.

"Bring our 'A' game," asserted Shelton.
