Jay Paul Gumm enters plea deal, given probation

MISSISSIPPI -- A former Texoma lawmaker will spend two years on probation for embezzlement charges.

A court clerk's office in Mississippi says former Oklahoma state senator Jay Paul Gumm must also pay $9,000 to the Mississippi Economic Development Partnership.

Gumm represented Durant in the State Senate from 2002 to 2010.

He lost his seat to Josh Brecheen and left to head up the Stone County Mississippi Economic Development Partnership -- that's where prosecutors say he stole $24,000 by forging checks and depositing them into his personal account.
