MADILL, OK -- It would be a rough go last year for a Madill program used to making deep playoff runs.
"It was a few things that happened because of inexperience and those kind of things, but those guys are better, they're improved and we're looking forward to this year," head coach Milton Cooper said.
They would finish 4-6 just one win away from making it back to the postseason. This group of seniors badly wants to get back.
"Never really had a winning season, gone 6-4 or anything above. I hope we can pull it off this year and do the best that we can," senior wide receiver and defensive back Taber Bagley said.
"I think with this group of young ones that we have they're excited about the season and we're going to have some fun and with all of that hope it will come into some wins," Cooper added.
Lone Grove seems to be the early favorite to win their district. The other three playoff spots will be a fight to fill. A fight Cooper's Wildcats are ready to claw their way through.
"Kind of expecting to be underdogs, kind of blow a few people's minds out there," senior running back and linebacker Corbin Larason said.
"I think we're going to shock a lot of people, a lot of people are not really expecting things from us this year, but I think this team is expecting great things out of us, out of each other, so I think we're going to do very well and get as far as we can. I mean, we plan on going all the way, so we'll see what happens," senior running back Micah Cooper concluded.
