HARRISBURG, AR (MSC) -- The Murray State College Softball Team has won the NJCAA Division II Region 2 title. The team took the victory in the best two of three tournament versus North Arkansas College today in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
“It was great to see everyone healthy and all parts of our game clicking together,” says MSC Head Softball Coach Marie Stone. “We are very proud of these young ladies. It is an awesome day to be an Aggie!”
MSC took the first game 15-2, with Katie Miller getting the win and Stephanie McKee getting the save. In game two, MSC took the win 12-1 with Jordan Dabney taking the win on the mound and Haley Furr getting the save.
“We had a fantastic pitching performance during both games by all five of our pitchers,” says MSC Head Softball Coach Marie Stone. “Our defense stayed solid and made some terrific plays behind our pitching staff. Offensively, we keep the momentum and continuously scored from the first inning until the last inning, capitalizing on opportunities.”
Next weekend the team heads to the District D Tournament in Topeka, Kansas. The tournament will be a double-elimination tournament of eight teams. The Aggies will play the winner between Allen Community College and Neosho Community College. The winning District team will travel to Clinton, Mississippi to compete in the Division II National Tournament May 13 – 16.
