WHITEWRIGHT, TX -- A changing of the guard in Whitewright as the Tigers have their new head football coach and athletic director.

At tonight's Board of Trustees meeting they would unanimously approve Joe Williams, the offensive coordinator and former head baseball coach at Melissa High School.

Williams replaces Wes Rhoten, who resigned last month.

Superintendent Steve Arthur would tell KTEN they chose Williams out of 120 applicants. He'd add he's thrilled to have Williams on staff and hopes he will be at Whitewright for a long time.

Williams spent nine years at Melissa and was a part of the 2011 Class 2A State Championship football team. He's also a graduate of Van Alstyne High School (2000).

Meanwhile, the Tigers would go 3-7 in 2014 and 0-5 in district. They also ended their season on a seven game losing streak.
