Bells Panthers: a program on the rise

BELLS, TX -- The Bells Panthers have had a rough time of it the last several years going 2-28 over a three season span.

This year things have turned around under the direction of first year head coach Scott Ponder.

They've now clinched a playoff berth for the first time in four years and have a shot at winning their first district title since 1996 if they can win these last two games.

"It's been fun, and the community is hungry, the school is hungry, the kids are hungry, so it's been well-received and it's been a great experience," coach Ponder said.

"It feels good, it's been what we've worked for all summer, all spring. It's been our goal and I think the town is excited about it, I think that we've done real well," junior quarterback Derrick Ponder added.

"We have worked extremely hard these past nine or so months and we're really excited about it," junior middle linebacker Jace Lester concluded.

They'll play Trenton Friday night.
