2nd Mosquito Trap Tests Positive for West Nile In Texoma

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Another mosquito sample from Texoma has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

The grayson county health department received lab results from mosquito traps set on august 26th revealing that one of four mosquito's pools submitted tested positive.

The trap was set in the 1700 block of west Fannin street in Denison.

The last positive trap was set in the 500 block of west Burrell street on august 14th.

A total of 266 traps have been set in the county since May 1st.

The health department says overall numbers are low but they will continue to monitor the situation.

Although two positive pools have been identified within Grayson County, specifically within the city limits of Denison, Texas; overall trap counts continue to remain low.   The Grayson County Health Department's EH/WNV team will continue their surveillance efforts throughout the county over the next several months.  We continue to encourage  individuals to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others against the West Nile Virus.   For more additional information on how you can “Fight the Bite” please visit the following links: http://www.co.grayson.tx.us/users/0001/docs/WNVHDpublicdoc.pdf ;http://www.cdc.gov/westnile/index.html .
