ColdQuanta's System Results in First Bose Einstein Condensate in Hawaii

ColdQuanta, Inc. has delivered its first complete Table-Top BEC system to Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Within days of delivery Bose Einstein condensate(BEC) was achieved.

We are thrilled to have delivered our first complete system, said Rainer Kunz, CEO of ColdQuanta. He added, We are particularly excited that the first BEC in Hawaii was achieved using our system.

The Air Force Research Laboratory/Directed Energy Directorate (AFRL/RD) acquired the BEC System for a joint quantum computing group led by Dr. Jeffrey Yepez. AFRL/RD has set up a new BEC Lab through an educational partnership with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Physics and Astronomy. This research effort is supported by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program, which helped fund both the development and eventual acquisition of state-of-the-art BEC systems. A cornerstone of the group's effort in quantum computation via analog is experimental quantum simulation using state-of-the-art ultracold quantum gas technology. With a focus on quantum information dynamics, Dr. Yepez investigates quantum computation, quantum simulation, quantum turbulence, and quantum imaging and sensing.

ColdQuantas system contains a Physics Package with the RuBECi® atom-chip vacuum cell at its core, a laser system and an electronics package. To ensure rapid deployment, ColdQuanta physicists aided with the integration and installation of the system.
