Authorities Search For Man They Say Assaulted A Denison Officer

BRYAN COUNTY, OK -- A man police say assaulted an officer is on the lose right now in Cartwright, Oklahoma.

Police say the man sped off when a Denison officer tried to get him out of his truck during a routine traffic stop around 5 o'clock this afternoon.

     

Police say the man drove across the border into Cartwright, Oklahoma were he bailed out near Willaffa Woods road and ran on foot.  

Police say they don't know if the two passengers in the pickup were involved, but that an officer was assaulted when the man initially drove off.

"An officer was assaulted with the vehicle, because he was trying to get the individual out of the car, and the driver took of with him partially in the vehicle," said Lt. Mike Eppler, Denison P.D.

The Bryan county sheriff's office says there are currently 30 people on the ground searching.  

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid thirties.  If you know where he is you're asked to call police immediately.
