2014 Team Preview: Plainview Indians

ARDMORE, OK ---- The Plainview Indians are coming off of their most successful season in school history, an undefeated regular season combined with their first state semifinals appearance has set the tone for Plainview.

"That's our program. Last year was a culmination of five years worth of work, just to be honest with you and I think that's going to continue and grow. It wasn't a pinnacle. It's that old adage that, hopefully, that tradition doesn't graduate, it's just the expectation that we have here year in and year out," Plainview head coach Chris Berus said.

The Indians are only returning a total of six starters this year, which might make some consider 2014 a rebuilding year, but the Indians don't see it that way.

"I don't think we're gonna rebuild, I just think we're going to reload. I think that's what you do when you have a successful program like we do. We've got more kids every year that are ready to get after it," Plainview senior left tackle/defensive end Cody Steele said.

For the Indians, the 2013 district MVP and the district's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year have all graduated but they've left behind a legacy that won't soon be forgotten.

"They left some pretty big shoes to fill but they taught us everything they know. They helped mold us into the team we're going to be and they set the bar really high for what is expected for us and we're just going to follow them in the path that they started, "Plainview senior running back/linebacker Chris Hamilton.

Plainview will kick off the 2014 season at Sanger on September 5.
