Stories shared in Savanas Folks offer insights into American life from generations past.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (PRWEB) August 20, 2014

Savanas Folks (published by Xlibris) by Ann Walker Conley relates the story of Savanas family through the generations. The tales revolve around everyday life in Appalachia, from Civil War times up to the present.

Our family is not famous, notorious - no peacemakers, no medical cures did we discover. Yet they, like so many others, were the backbone of America. Their stories deserved to be told, says Conley. This book opens a window into the past, showing the people as they worked, took care of their own, with no handouts. As the author mentions, the stories relate mostly ordinary lives. However, in much the same way that a miner needs to dig through tons of rock for a bit of gold, the reader may find a few glimmering insights about the simply profound values that take a family from day to day, generation to generation.

Savanas Folks is a channel to the past. It may be long gone, but stories perpetuate the virtues of a generations heritage to forge an identity for a living history.
