LONE GROVE, OK -- The Lone Grove Longhorns made program history last season when they hosted a playoff game for the first time. But that's when their playoff run would end.
"We weren't happy with the way our season ended last year. We were happy with the way the middle of our season went, we won eight football games in a row. We've worked really hard and focused on continuing our success into the playoffs and that's one thing we really want to try and focus on is finishing better," head coach Jeremy Turner said.
This is Turner's second year at the helm and after last year's success the Longhorns have bought into his regime.
"He was really just trying to get us behind him the first year and trying to get us to be successful," senior right guard Lane Paul said. "Now we know that we've been there, but we don't know how far we can go and that's where we need to pick up where we left off last year."
The Longhorns return 18 starters this season and after last year's finish, expectations are high.
"We're just now starting the reputation for Lone Grove and we have to keep it going. We can't let it get to our heads and affect our game, we got to stay on our game," Paul added.
"This is a great place to be and our kids are great kids to work with and their families are great to work with," Turner went on. "It would be really fulfilling, not only as a coach but as a member of this community to be able to meet those goals for all of us."
The Longhorns will kick-off the season Sept. 5 against Marietta.
