Stellar STAAR Test Results For Sherman/Denison

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Two local school districts passed a standardized test with flying colors.

Denison ISD received high marks on the STAAR test.

Students are tested on 6 different subject areas at the end of the school year to see how much they have learned.

Denison Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says these impressive results aren't surprising.

"It's really not a secret to the way these things work, you've got to have a commitment, you know to do well, and then you've got to have a plan in place, and then you've got to implement that plan, and i think we do that quite well," said Dr. Scott.

Dr. Scott says the teachers and students will continue their hard work and they look forward to the upcoming year.

It doesn't stop there.  Sherman ISD says they aced their last round of STAAR testing.

The district says Sherman high swept all six distinction designations ranking in the top five percent of all Texas high schools.

Five Sherman schools earned distinction designations besides the high school.

Students are tested on science, math, reading, social studies and writing.
