UPDATE -- Medical examiner identified the man who was killed as Jorge Alejandio Palmeros Osorni.

LAMAR COUNTY, TX -- Firefighters say a plant explosion kills a worker in Lamar County when a mishap involving contractors changing out a booth sends pieces through the roof.

It happened around 11 a.m. at PJ Trailers on F.M. 2352.

A total of 238 workers were evacuated from the building, but when firefighters got there, they were still looking for one, Tigertown assistant fire chief Kevin Norris said.

They did a preliminary search and then found the man dead. Norris says outside contractors were removing a "paint booth" where the flatbed trailers are painted when there was some type of explosion.

A total of 10 other fire departments also responded including Hopewell, Lamar Point, Brookston, Roxton, Chicotah, Powderly, Reno, Honey Grove, Cooper, Paris, and Paris EMS.

Norris says a medical examiner in Marshall, Texas, was on the way to the scene.

A woman at the plant office says the company will not be making a statement until Thursday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
