BRYAN COUNTY -- The identity of the teenager recovered from Lake Texoma has been released.

The OHP says Garlin Ward, 15, of Colbert, drown Tuesday at about 1pm at Sunset Cove in Bryan County.

Troopers say Ward and his cousin were swimming when they decided to race to a sand bar about 70 feet from the shoreline.

More than halfway, they both stopped to rest.

OHP says Ward began yelling for help. His cousin tried to help but was unable to without being pulled underwater himself. The OHP says Ward went underwater but never resurfaced.

After about a five hour search, divers recovered his body early Tuesday evening.

    TMC launches new neuro-intervention suite

DENISON, TX -- Treating neurological conditions like stroke, blood clots, and ruptured brain aneurysms is all about time. Vivek H. Tank, MD, an Interventional Neurologist on TMC's medical staff said, "Prior to having this room installed here, we had to ship the patients down to the other hospitals by helicopter. That was delaying treatment times by at least an hour and a half. So ninety minutes extra time where the brain was starved of oxygen leads to poorer outcomes."...More >>
