DENISON -- A donation drive is now underway to help students in need stock up on school supplies before they head back to class.

Right now, Kroger stores in Denison and Sherman are inviting shoppers to "Stuff the School Bus."

It's a program being put on across north Texas.

For $7,  you can buy a pre-packaged school supply kit that'll be donated to local schools.

You can also donate $1 at the register.

"It's awesome," Denison store manager Art Butterworth said. "We take all the supplies that we get and the money that we get, we take it to the administration building here and they distribute all the funds and the school supplies to the local schools."

The "Stuff the School Bus" drive runs through August 17.

Last year, more than $300,000 worth of school supplies were collected in 19 days across north Texas.
