Rain helping local golf courses rebound from dreadful winter

DENISON -- Local golf courses are soaking up more sales as a result of the recent rain.

We found a few people getting in a round between showers Wednesday at the Grayson College Golf Course.

Managers say the rain is keeping fairways and roughs greener later into this summer season.

The director, Mike Hurley, says that's keeping the clubs swinging.

"This year, because of the good weather and everything, this spring and summer has been better than average," he said. "But, of course, in the winter time we had that ice storm in December and we've had other instances. We missed approximately 25 days where we weren't open."

Hurley says a busier course does add up to a little extra money but says it's not enough to offset what was lost following the ice storm.
