LAKE TEXOMA -- 51 campsites are being temporarily shut down at Lake Texoma this week for financial purposes.

Starting Tuesday the Army Corps of Engineers will be closing loops "A" and "F" within lakeside campground.

Officials say camping is slow this time of year.

They say shutting down these 2 sections will help limit campsite costs.

"Ultimately that's what's funding Lake Texoma, is the money that taxpayers pay into the U.S. Treasury.  So if there's an availability, or position we can take to try to better utilize those funds, we're going to try to do that," said B.J. Parkey, Assistant Lake Manager.

These campsites will reopen for the Labor Day rush and close September 9th for the remainder of the camping season.
