DENISON, TX -- Denison's 7-on-7 team has qualified for state for the first time in program history.
They'd clinch their spot a couple weeks ago as one of only 64 Class 5A and 6A squads in the state. In fact they were just the 20th team to qualify.
They'd do their work in Wylie against some of their "district-mates" for the upcoming fall.
They've been close in the past but now hope it's something they can continue to do year-in-and-year-out.
"We're just setting a legacy and they should go to state every year because I have faith in all of the Denison Yellow Jackets to make it to state all the time," senior wide receiver Chance Rogers said.
"It just builds confidence and gets me on the same page as my receivers so for Friday nights we know what we're doing," senior quarterback Devon Blanton added.
They'll tune up in Prosper tomorrow and head to College Station for state July 11.
