$370 million will be poured in, filling in the corners of the south end zone. Also included: a new weight room, equipment room, offices and team areas. OU President David Boren says no public funding will be used. Head coach Bob Stoops is fired up at his new first class digs.
"To make this stadium as any they'll walk into in the country and to improve the amenities for all the fans, but also, what's most important to me, to improve the environment all of our athletes in particular my players, on the football team, you know the environment that they'll work in and the facilities they'll work in on a daily basis with my coaches will be incredibly positive and make an impact for us," Stoops said.
Big Game Bob is also getting a pay raise. The Board of Regents would approve a modification to his contract which will earn him more than $5 million a year. His salary will continue to increase through then end of his deal in 2020. In 2019 he will make more than $6 million. If he's able to win the national championship, he'll earn another $275,000. Stoops is the all-time winningest coach in program history.
