IMD‘s laser-like focus on high caliber, real-world executive education pays off again. Financial Times recently ranked the Swiss business school first in the world for open programs in 2014. This is the third consecutive year IMD has earned this honor.

In addition, IMD joins the top five in partnership programs, moving up a notch from being sixth last year, and in the overall combined ranking (open and partnership programs), IMD remains third in the world.

Serving as a testament to the executive development mission at IMD, the Financial Times 2014 rankings underline IMD’s impressive performance history and consistent position as one of the world’s leading business schools. For the last seven years (2008-2014), the school ranks first, on average, in executive education worldwide.

“This a proud time for IMD and I am extremely pleased that the exceptional educational experiences we provide are reinforced by this global ranking,” said IMD President Dominique Turpin. “These results come from the dedication of many and we are thankful to everyone in our IMD community.”

Experts in developing global leaders through high-impact education, IMD offers a flexible, customized and effective approach with a global perspective. All programs and services focus on real-world challenges faced by executives. IMD works with clients — whether individuals, teams or organizations — to resolve their issues, build capabilities and prepare for the future.

IMD is constantly innovating to give clients the programs they need, where and how they need them. Not having the constraints of traditional university structures and academic processes allows IMD to be responsive, flexible and quick to adapt to the specific requirements of clients.

Established in 1990 from two previously independent business schools — IMI, founded in Geneva by Alcan in 1946, and IMEDE, founded in Lausanne in 1957 by Nestl — IMD has a long history of providing executive education. Although based in Switzerland, IMD also operates out of key locations worldwide. It is intellectually and culturally diverse with no single dominant nationality, and no one world view. IMD boasts more than 34 different nationalities represented in its faculty and staff members.

Each year, IMD hosts more than 8,000 executives from 98 countries, while 120 global companies choose IMD for their customized programs. Programs offered include Open Enrollment, Partnership, MBA and Executive MBA.
