SHERMAN -- A man was killed Thursday in an early morning accident on US 75 in Sherman.

According to Sherman police, it happened just after 5 AM at exit 56-A just north of FM 1417.

Investigators say an SUV driven by Julian Gann, 70, from Sherman was going the wrong way on the exit ramp onto US 75 and hit another vehicle head-on.

But when Gann got out to help the driver of the second car, he was hit and killed by a third car in the northbound lanes. Gann was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators spent the morning on the scene. The highway was shut down for about six hours and reopened shortly before 11 AM.

The accident is still under investigation, however police say it does not appear any criminal charges will be filed at this time on anyone involved in these incidents.
