ARDMORE, OK -- For band students, the last few weeks for summer are reserved for rehearsals to gear up for the fall marching band season. But one Texoma marching band has yet to hit the field and it has some people in the community concerned. As the calendar flips closer to August, marching bands across Texoma turn parking lots into football fields to practice. Models and social escorts in the United States are being targeted by scam artists claiming to represent established modelling agencies.

Nevada, United States – June 12, 2014 /MarketersMedia/ –

Models and escorts searching for work in the state of Nevada have reported being approached by individuals through online ads and direct emails, promising to match them with high-end clientele and lucrative commission rates. By claiming to represent a particular agency, and using logos and forms stolen from various sources, they bait inexperienced escorts with promises of fast cash. After a few jobs, these ‘agents’ would disappear, along with any commission collected from the transactions.

The increase in such incidents have prompted warnings from companies impersonated by these scam artists. Rachel Walsh, chief operations officer for Red Paramour, have urged new models to exercise caution.

“With the popularity of premium advertising services such as Red Paramour, it is unfortunate that unscrupulous people have chosen to steal the reputation of these established companies to run a scam. Some of these individuals go by the names of Kathy or Nathan. Regardless, if anyone claims to be a representative and asks you to provide personal details and sign a form, be very careful. These impostors will try their best to convince you that they are genuine, with smooth talking, forged documents and pointing you to websites that they claimed are owned by them. But by making smart background checks, it is easy to expose their cover.”

The advice offered by veterans of the modelling and escorting community has been both vocal and encouraging. At first glance, look out for the email address used for correspondence. If it does not match the official email used by the agency or website, the con artiste is using a similar address to fool the less tech-savvy. For additional verification, also call or email through the official website to check if such representatives are genuine. If in doubt, always ask for identification documents of the other party, and make a verified copy so you have some form of record.

“What people often fail to realise is that Red Paramour is not an escort agency – our website provides an online-only advertising service. We do not employ any field representatives at all.”, Rachel explains. “These incidents have been very distressing for the victims involved, and as a community, we need to put a stop to it. It can be a minefield for those who are new to the industry, and we hope that we are able to highlight the importance of self-responsibility and vigilance before being taken in by promises of easy money.”
