North Texas Patriot Guard Honor Locals Live On KTEN News Midday

KTEN was proud to host a very emotional and moving ceremony with the North Texas Patriot Guard live on KTEN News Midday.
The Patriots presented honorary memberships to three locals who helped during the procession and funeral of Army Pfc. Christian J. Chandler.

Chandler was killed April 28, 2014. He was serving during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. When he returned home for burial he was met with full military honors, and a patriotism that only Texoma can show.

Honored during the event was Sherman Fire Chief J.J. Jones for his help and his department's participation at the arrival at the North Texas Airport. The Sherman Fire Department was proud to use their ladder trucks to display a huge American flag. Their trucks also saluted Pfc. Chandlers arrival with cross streams of water over the aircraft.

Also honored during the event, Former Whitewright Mayor, Bill Goodson. Goodson is a lifelong resident of Whitewright and watched Pfc. Chandler grow up. The assistance from Goodson and the City of Whitewright helped keep order with the outpouring of support from hundreds who attended the funeral.

The third person honored, Karen Bounds, who made sure the Patriot Guard was taken care of during the procession and funeral. According to Carl Feltner, with the North Texas Patriot Guard, Bounds made sure all the riders had plenty of water, and anything they needed while honoring Pfc. Chandler.
