UPDATE:  GARVIN COUNTY,  OK -- Police have released the name of a little girl who drowned in a Garvin County lake over the weekend.
Pauls Valley Police say 6-year-old Ava Bell of Shawnee drowned after she drifted out into Longmire Lake last night just before 6pm Sunday Night.
     
Her body was found two hours later.
     
Multiple agencies were involved in the search.  
     
The little girl's body was sent to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner.  

No word yet on any memorial services.

ORIGINAL STORY:

GARVIN COUNTY, OK -- Police say a girl is dead after a drowning at a lake near Pauls Valley on Sunday evening.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. at Longmire Lake, several miles east of town, Pauls Valley Police Chief Mitch McGill said.

Officers recovered the body of the 6-year-old who was at the lake with friends around 8:30 p.m., McGill said.

The girl is not from Garvin County. Several agencies including Pauls Valley Fire Department, Pauls Valley Ambulance, OHP, Lighthorse Police, the Oklahoma Wildlife Dept., Stratford Police, Stratford Fire, Walker Fire, and Air Evac responded, McGill said.
