Second Home At Lake Texoma Destroyed In Fire After Memorial Day

MARSHALL COUNTY, OK -- Memorial Day weekend was the last weekend one family will be using their second home at Lake Texoma.

A fire started around 10 a.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of White Oak Road in the Oakwood neighborhood, destroying the trailer.

It started near a hot water heater which is linked to a propane tank, Enos-Cardinal Cove assistant fire chief James Hodges said. A neighbor spotted the smoke and called for help.

"I was just headed out the door to go run some errands and saw smoke coming out the back of the mobile home outside their door to the hot water tank and so I just called the fire department, called 9-1-1, and our response team was incredible," says witness Gail Chilton.

Neighbors say the family from Mustang, Okla., just left their vacation spot on Monday. They were planning to come back to check on the damage.
