Paris Police Investigating Body Near Where Teen Disappeared

PARIS, TX -- Police have been searching for a missing teenager, and are now also investigating a body found on Sunday night.

Police Chief Bob Hundley said in an e-mail around 8 p.m. that the body was found near a railroad track in dense brush off W. Center and 10th NW.

However, police have not yet released an identification on who the person is.

Hundley says officers were called to a school on Friday after Russell Kennedy, 18, did not show up for class.

After speaking with Kennedy's mother, police say they learned he had gone to a restaurant where he worked to check his schedule around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, but had not returned.

Anyone with information is asked to call Paris police.

Hundley released the following statement on Saturday:

" Paris Police are asking for your help in locating a missing person.  Russell Gage Kennedy, male, white, 18 years of age, 5'3 120 lbs, brown hair and green eyes was last seen on Thursday night around 10:30 PM.  The clothing description includes a unknown color of shirt and blue jeans.

Officers were called to a school counselors office regarding Mr. Kennedy. A friend of Mr. Kennedy was concerned due to a text she had received and Kennedy not being in school Friday morning.  There had been no report of a missing person at this time from family members at this time.

Officers went to Kennedy's residence and made contact with his mother who let officers know that her son had left the residence around 10:30 PM to walk to a local restaurant where he worked to check his schedule. She advised that he had not returned home.

Officers searched the immediate area along with the route he might have taken to the restaurant and did not find the man.

Anyone seeing Mr. Kennedy or those that may have information regarding his location are asked to contact the police department at 903-784-6688. "
