New University President Coming Home To Durant This Summer

DURANT, OK -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University will soon have a new president, and he is a Texoma native.

Regents say they voted to hire Sean Burrage, in his mid-40s, of Claremore, after interviewing five candidates in Oklahoma City on Thursday.

The state senator and attorney was born in Durant, went to Antlers High School, and is the son of a former federal Judge Michael Burrage.

He's not seeking re-election to the State Senate and will start on July 1.

He is replacing Larry Minks, who has served as president for five years and will stay on as a professor of leadership.
