SHERMAN, TX -- A former cashier at a Sherman department store is accused of taking money out of the register several times around the holidays.

Amanda Tyler, 33, of Collinsville, is charged with theft of property. The alleged stealing happened at J.C. Penney at Sherman Town Center around Christmas and New Year's, according to court documents.

Police say video showed Tyler hugging the cash register and sliding her hand back into her pocket.

Tyler is accused of taking more than $3,000 on a total of 9 different days, police said.

She was fired from the store in January and is out of jail on a $7,500 bond.
