BOSTON, May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Geneia President Heather Lavoie will participate in the panel, Analytics Strategy: Integrating Clinical and Claims Data, at the May 14th – 15th iHT² Payer-Provider Evolving Business Model Summit in Boston. Lavoie will be joined by Laurance Stuntz, Director at the Massachusetts eHealth Institute, and the panel will be moderated by Mark Hagland, the Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Informatics.
During the panel, Lavoie will discuss the need to integrate clinical and claims data in order for hospitals and health systems to succeed as accountable care organizations. She will share experiences, challenges, and strategies for creating the kind of actionable analytics that benefit hospitals, health systems, health plans, physicians and their patients.
"For hospitals, health systems, physicians and their patients to succeed in the nearly 600 accountable care organizations (ACOs) that have been formed in recent years, clinical and claims data need to be integrated effectively, efficiently, and accurately into actionable information," said Heather Lavoie, President of Geneia. "Endocrinologists, for example, need to use data to be able to predict and prevent diabetics from experiencing a severe hypoglycemic episode that requires a costly visit to the emergency room."
As President of Geneia, Lavoie hears every day from hospitals and physicians that they cannot find a system that provides data in a timely and actionable way to prevent unnecessary emergency room visits and hospital visits. "There is an immediate need for a robust data and analytics platform to identify and care for patients and populations," added Lavoie. "That's why Geneia is creating a system that enables ACOs and patient-centered medical homes to strategically and proactively manage clinical and financial indicators to enhance patient engagement, reduce costs, and improve health outcomes."
