GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is warning of a frequent scam that's been targeting Texomans.

Investigators say the con-artists will call claiming to be IRS or DEA agents.

They may tell you that you're under investigation and that you owe them money.

Investigators say the scammers are very intimidating and try to scare you in to cooperating.

Investigators say you should either just hang up or tell them  that you're reporting their number to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

"They're going to ask that you send anywhere from a thousand to five thousand dollars, to an address, in a cash, check or money order, and the investigation will cease, we ask that people do not do this, just tell them that once again you've reported this to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, and please do not call again," said Lt. Ricky Wheeler.

Investigators say scammers are also calling claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House.

They advise if someone is asking you for money over the phone it's probably a scam.
