Whitewright softball enjoying this season's success
WHITEWRIGHT, TX -- We're just a night away from the area round getting started for softball teams in the Lone Star State.
Not too many still alive in our viewing area, but the Whitewright Lady Tigers feel like they'll be playing until the end.
They've had a season to remember only losing twice and, as they get ready for Boyd, they're enjoying their high esteem.
"You know, we've never won a district championship. The expectations are relatively high and as the years progressed and those wins keep piling on our girls aren't feeling pressured they're just going out and doing what they're doing and the community is getting involved with every win," head coach Phil Shope said.
"It's a cool feeling being the big dogs, that's what you always strive for and coaches always say, 'Well, win district.' And so we finally have been able to achieve that and we're not satisfied with just a district championship. We want to keep moving on and get as far as we can," senior outfielder and catcher Sydney Brummett added.
First pitch at Texas Women's slated for 7 p.m. Thursday.
