DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's Jessica Simmons has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week following her performance in the series victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State this past weekend.
It is the second time Simmons, a sophomore from Bethel, Okla., has won the award this year, and she picks up the sixth weekly honor by a Savage Storm softball player this season.
She turned in a .700 batting average in the series against SWOSU in which the Storm took three of the four games.
Simmons finished 7-of-10 at the plate with a double and an RBI from the leadoff position, scoring a team-high seven runs, totaling a quarter of the teams runs scored on the series.
She boasted a .760 on-base percentage by adding three walks to her hit total and boosted her GAC leading stolen base total to 31 with six steals over four games.
She also added an error-free performance in the field at second base on 13 chances.
Southeastern will be back in action April 25-26 when it hosts Henderson State in the final regular-season series of the season.
