SHERMAN, TX -- The Sherman Museum has unveiled its latest installation this week - the Grayson County Courthouse Exhibit.

Located in the lower level, the exhibit displays the succession of all five courthouses and the history behind each one, including when President Theodore Roosevelt spoke on the steps in 1905 and the 1930 riot that lead to the courthouse burning down.

Museum Coordinator Chris Rumohr says the exhibit has had a positive response from the community.

"I really like the fact that we were able to incorporate a lot of the artifacts from the older courthouses into this exhibit," said  Rumohr. "We've got the blade of the axe that cut the logs for the first courthouse."

Rumohr says the artifacts include the first key and gavel for the first courthouse. The Sherman Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
