UPDATE: Body of missing teen in Murray County recovered


UPDATE -- The body of a missing boater has been recovered from the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

According to park ranger, Dan Winnings, "On Monday, April 7, National Park Service Rangers atChickasaw National Recreation Area and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol continuedtheir search in Lake of the Arbuckles for a missing juvenile boater, beforelocating and recovering his body at approximately 10:45am. The juvenile hadgone missing on Saturday, April 5 when the boat he wasin sank near The Point area of Chickasaw NRA. Three individuals from the boatended up in the water. A fisherman was able to rescue two of the boaters out ofthe water. A third juvenile boater disappeared under the water."

Winnings continued, "Search efforts over the past three days includedassistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Dive Team and Lake Patrol, SulphurFire Department, and the Oklahoma Department of Fish and Game."

Chickasaw NRAChief Ranger Aaron Shandor said, "The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was of greatassistance in the recovery effort, and the support of the residents and City ofSulphur was outstanding."

MURRAY COUNTY, OK -- A father and two sons out fishing when their boat sinks in Murray County.

Several members of the OHP dive team and 4 boats have been out in the rain searching the Lake of the Arbuckles all day, park ranger Dan Winings said.

A fisherman rescued a father and son around 5 p.m. on Saturday near The Point swimming area at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, but he couldn't get to another 13-year-old boy, Winings said.

Winings says the teen is presumed drowned and OHP says it was called for a recovery effort. The Sulphur Fire Department and Oklahoma Fish and Game are assisting in the search. If necessary, it will continue on Monday.
