Our first responders, firefighters, police officers, put their lives on the line for us every day. Now, a local police officer needs a little help from the community.

On January 31st, Sgt. Mike Byrd, with the Denison Police Department,  was involved in a foot pursuit. During the pursuit, Sgt. Byrd fell, but the suspect was later caught. Shortly after the chase, Sgt. Byrd suffered a stroke and has been in a hospital or rehab facility since that day. Sgt. Byrd has been in law enforcement for many years and has served the City of Denison since 2001.

Now, Sgt. Byrd's fellow officers, friends and family have organized a benefit to help with medical expenses.
