Ardmore Main Street Gears Up For Taste Of Ardmore

ARDMORE, OK -- The Ardmore Main Street office was busy Thursday as they get ready for a big event this Saturday. Residents and business owners say they are excited to showcase Ardmore this weekend.

Business owners along Main Street are gearing up for this year's version of the biggest block party in town...the Taste of Ardmore.

"It's a really good opportunity for main street and really the city of Ardmore to kind of showcase what kind of town we are," said Ryan Matlack, owner of Ten Star Pizza.

Organizers say the event has brought in some big name entertainment to Ardmore over the past couple of years.

"We're bringing Johnny Lee Band in and he's got a lot of hits so we're pretty pumped about that," said Aubry Harris, owner of Two Frogs Grill. "So lots of food and a great band coming in."

For relatively new businesses on the block, like Red Dirt Brewhouse, it's a way for visitors to experience all it has to offer.

'For us it's just an opportunity for us to get out in the public eye and really show them what we're all about from a food side," said Justin Ramsey, owner of the 18-month old brewhouse.

Main street directors say a new opportunity will be offered to patrons at the Taste of Ardmore this Saturday.

In addition to all the tasty food and live music that visitors will get to partake in at the Taste of Ardmore this year, they will also get a chance to tour the historic Tivoli theatre.

"We are in the process of working on a plan to renovate and or restore the Tivoli building," said Maria Wilkinson, a volunteer with Ardmore Main Street.

Wilkinson says the Main Street office hopes to receive input from people who tour the theatre for restoration ideas.

Despite busy last minute preparations, owners say they're ready to showcase Ardmore.

"Definitely people from out of town will see a different side of Ardmore by coming down to Main Street," said Harris.

"It's a family oriented event and just showcases what kind of town this is," said Matlack.

The Taste of Ardmore begins at 5 PM this Saturday.

Event organizers say they expect about 6,000 people to attend and will feature 20 local restaurants.
