LAMAR COUNTY, TX - A Lamar county man is in jail tonight charged with the murder of his neighbor.

Deputies say they found a man dead yesterday and made the arrest a short time later.

Sheriff's deputies say 34-year old David Scott Powell is in the Lamar County Jail.

They say he was taken into custody Sunday after deputies found the body of a 54-year old man lying on the floor of a shop in the 6500 block of Highway 82 West.

Investigators say the man had severe injuries to his head.

The name of the man who was killed has not yet been released.

His body has been sent for an autopsy.
