NORMAN, OK --- "It's no surprise that former Sherman Bearcat, Cameron Clark was one of the most highly recruited high school basketball players to ever come out of the Texoma area.
He was a two-time first team All-State selection as well as a two-time district MVP. Clark is now a senior at OU and looks back on his high school career with a smile.
"It was great, a great four years under Coach Mccullough. He was a great coach. It was a great school to come from, great group of guys I played with. Like I said, great coach, just instilled hard work and dedication and things like that, so I learned a lot from him. It's great to be a Bearcat...great to be a Bearcat," Oklahoma senior guard, Cameron Clark said.
OU Head Coach Lon Kruger may not have known much about Sherman, Texas before, but thanks to Clark, Sherman as well as the rest of Texoma, is on his radar.
"Cam certainly speaks well, and his legacy for Sherman basketball is good. And you take a look at the good players that have come from there, it's obvious good basketball is played there," Oklahoma head basketball coach, Lon Kruger said.
Clark tries to keep up with Sherman basketball as much as he can, he even had some advice for current Bearcat and first team All-District selection, J'Lynn Thompson.
"Just try to be a leader, he's kind of quiet, he can be goofy at some times. So I just tell him, just keep on playing hard, make sure your teammates are locked in and just be ready to play every possession, keep working hard. He's going to be a great player," Clark said.
Clark and the Sooners take on North Dakota State in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament on Thursday.
