LAMAR COUNTY, TX --- On March 16, 2014, the Lamar County Sheriff's Office received a call of a deceased person in the 6500 Block of State Highway 82 West. 

When Sheriff Deputies arrived, they found a 54-year-old male subject in a shop building lying on the floor with severe trauma to the head and deceased. Sheriff Detectives, along with Ranger Stacy McNeal, are working this scene as a homicide. The decedent was pronounced by Justice Crystal Duke, and sent for autopsy. Investigators are awaiting autopsy findings to determine cause of death.

Sheriff Detectives interviewed a male subject who also resides at the residence. Subsequently, Detectives gained a warrant of arrest from the Lamar County District Attorney's Office for a David Scott Powell, charging him with Murder. Powell was placed in the Lamar County Jail awaiting arraignment. The investigation is ongoing.
