ARDMORE, OK -- The Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore was transformed into a mini track for some championship races.

The second annual Sooner Kart Nationals, the final stop of the Midwest Winter Race Series, began Friday and concluded on Saturday at the coliseum.

Organizers of the event say 175 karts were registered for the races and drivers ranging from ages 4 years old to 30, hailing from eight different states.

"Watching the little bitty ones, seeing them race and drive and then get out of their cars and you say, 'Oh my gosh, that little kid was doing that.' You know, so it's awesome," said Todd Hrnirick, promoter for Sooner Kart Racing.
